Christy was born and raised in Treynor, IA.  In high school Christy was a long distance 2 mile and 1500 runner for Track and Cross Country at Treynor H.S.  She attended Creighton Univeristy for her undergraduate degree and began a serious career in running her Junior year of college.

It wasn't until her Senior year of college that she ran her 1st Marathon when a friend suggested she do it.  She had no idea what a Marathon even was at that time.  She ran the Lincoln Marathon for her 1st Marathon at 3:14 (her goal was to run it under 4 hours) with no official marathon training.  After that marathon she was hooked.  Her next competitive marathon was in Dec of 1997, she finished with 2:43 which was her personal best.

Soon after, she began her graduate studies as a Physical Therapist at Creighton University whole she was training for her 1st Olympic Trials.  For her career she has has run 27 marathons, and has won 8 of them, and qualified for the past 3 Olympic Trials.  +Learn More
